VRA cuts Sod for Second Utility-Grid Connected Solar Power Project

The Volta River Authority has cut sod for the 17MW Kaleo / Lawra Solar Project located in the Upper West Region.

The project, which forms part of the first phase of VRA’s Renewable Energy Programme, is the second utility-grid-connected Solar Project, after the 2.5MW Solar Power Plant commissioned in 2013 at Navrongo.

KfW, a German Government Development Bank, is funding the project through a loan agreement between the Governments of Germany and Ghana.

Elecnor S.A. from Spain has been contracted to construct the project, with Tractebel Engineering of Germany serving as the Project Consultant.
